  • Cobet Featured in La Verdad for Breakthrough in Sustainable Water Reuse at FARMWISE General Assembly

Murcia, Spain – FARMWISE partner Cobet Tratamientos del Agua S.L. has been spotlighted in La Verdad, one of Spain’s leading newspapers, for its pioneering contribution to sustainable water management.

Cobet’s Breakthrough in Water Reuse: The Evacold System

The Evacold system, developed and patented by Cobet, offers a revolutionary approach to treating brackish well water and saline urban wastewater. It enables the evaporation of these wastewaters at temperatures below 40°C, without requiring any environmental discharge, and is powered entirely by 100% renewable energy. This process yields dry solid salts that can be repurposed in sectors such as agriculture and industry—supporting a circular economy while aligning with the European Union’s Zero Pollution goals.

At the FARMWISE general assembly, Evacold was presented as a forward-looking solution that not only optimizes water use but also enables the reuse of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation, helping farmers adapt to increasing water scarcity.

Collaboration with FARMWISE and Wageningen University

Cobet’s involvement in the FARMWISE project underscores its collaborative commitment to innovation. As a partner working alongside institutions such as Wageningen University & Research, Cobet contributes to the development of AI-driven, precision water management systems aimed at transforming how Europe approaches agriculture under climate stress.

Through participation in EU-funded projects like FARMWISE, Cobet is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technologies into practical, scalable solutions for the water sector.

Aligned with National and EU Policy Priorities

The timing of Cobet’s innovation is especially relevant, following the recent publication of Royal Decree 1085/2024 in Spain’s Official State Gazette. This new legislation promotes the doubling of reclaimed water usage, enforces stricter discharge limits, and prioritizes sustainable water practices. Cobet’s Evacold technology is positioned to play a key role in helping public and private sectors meet these ambitious targets.

Looking Ahead: Innovation Beyond Borders

Cobet’s success has already translated into commercial deployments across Spain, with growing interest from industries such as glass production, metallurgy, and agriculture. In parallel, the company is developing a new energy recovery system in collaboration with Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food—demonstrating its continued dedication to environmental leadership and self-sustaining technologies.

As highlighted in La Verdad, Cobet is not only innovating but inspiring change in the water treatment landscape. By working with strategic partners like Wageningen University and the FARMWISE consortium, the company is helping shape a resilient, resource-efficient future for Europe—one drop at a time.
