FARMWISE is pleased to share that Amir Naghibi, Assistant Professor at Lund University, represented the FARMWISE Project at Water Innovation Europe 2025 — a flagship annual event organised by Water Europe, held on 27–28 October 2025 in Copenhagen.
The event brought together leading EU-funded initiatives, industry innovators, policy makers, and water-sector pioneers to accelerate Europe’s transition toward a Water-Smart Society — one that manages water wisely as the backbone of resilient food systems, our environment and the economy.
FARMWISE Contribution: Water Data, Circularity & Farm-Level Resilience
Amir participated in the session:
“Harnessing Digital & Resource Recovery Innovation for Sustainable Farming”
His presentation explored how FARMWISE is:
Supporting smarter irrigation and water-use decisions through digital modelling
Enhancing resource recovery across the agri-food chain
Integrating interconnected data tools for water, soil, and resource management
Increasing resilience to drought and environmental pressures at farm level
Strengthening cooperation across Europe’s water-agriculture innovation ecosystem
The discussion emphasised the critical role of real-time analytics, stakeholder engagement, and eu-wide demonstration sites tested under real agricultural conditions.
Collaboration Across the Water-Agri Innovation Landscape
The session facilitated valuable exchange between Horizon Europe projects including:
- Universwater — digital governance for water security
- RAINS Project — cross-sector solutions for water pollution and scarcity
- GEORGIA EU Project — climate resilience and sustainable resource management
These collaborations support shared EU priorities, including the Water Resilience Initiative, the EU Green Deal, and Farm to Fork.
“Connecting with fellow projects working at the intersection of water and agriculture was energising — we are moving together toward a more resilient future.”
— Amir Naghibi, Lund University
